The Amulet: Inception, Conception, Invocation

The traditional definition of an Amulet is any object intended to bring good luck or protection The word "amulet" comes from the Latin amuletum, meaning "an object that protects a person from trouble".

Amulets are often devised as small pouches that can hold a treasured object like a crystal or a family memento. They are sometimes referred to as amulet pouches or prayer bags.

Used as a spiritual tool, we can use the amulet as a symbol of what we wish to call into our lives. The amulet invokes something: protection, prosperity/abundance, love, fertility, creativity, healing, serenity, gratitude, forgiveness/letting go...whatever we wish to manifest in our lives.

It is the inception (conception) of an idea, the first spark. It's the asking for something, but asking in a powerful way.

The Amulet itself has no power; we imbue it with the power of our intention.

In the "Weaving a Life" philosophy, Susan Barrett Merrill says that, "The materials of the amulet are small; It is the intention of the creator woven into those threads that gives it power to help us remember of sacred center."

The Amulet Pouch is small, usually small enough to wear around the neck. A woven pouch can be created from threads, fibres, yarn, or beads.

This is my "Please and Thank-You" amulet.
